With the ability to create his own wide range of instrumental rock music, Jim Morris has been able to fuse unforgettable melodies to complete orchestral movements with his own unmistakable guitar voicing.
Jim Morris is an accomplished guitar player from Detroit, Michigan who has burst onto the scene creating a lot of excitement playing his own unique style of instrumental rock fusion. Jim’s sound includes the combination of many styles such as metal, jazz, classical, blues and traditional rock. With the recent release of his second album, Lamentia, Jim is looking forward to leaving his mark on the music world while elevating the rebirth of instrumental fusion.
Jim has been playing guitar since the age of 13, studying blues, flat picking, rock and shred under instructor Bud Hanus of Huber and Breese Music Studio. This helped him develop his unparalleled picking style. Jim studied music theory and four part harmony construction under Alfred Marco who fused Jim’s outstanding playing abilities with classical composition sensibility. Jim also included musicianship courses with Jim Ohrt. This taught Jim to play with discipline and creativity in an ensemble setting using his technical skills and harmonic understanding to create complimentary instrumental voicing. All this knowledge was recognized in1988 when Jim was selected to perform with the Michigan All-State Jazz Band. Since then it has been easy for Jim find work playing professionally.
In 1993 Jim took a strong interest in the art of recording instrumental rock fusion and began churning out what would become a massive library of music in his own 8 track studio. Shortly there after Jim was discovered by record producer Jimi Taro of Taroland Studios and recorded his first solo release Jim Morris Band. This powerful rock CD established him as a legitimate recording artist and launched the single Pseudofus to number three on the C-NET charts in early March 2008. Following the completion and release of his new CD Lamentia, (an intensely melodic work), Jim is releasing his third solo album.
