With major musical influences from the Doo Wop era, until the late 1990s, Aries Marquis’s soulful singing abilities, writing skills and performances make it obvious that he has not forgotten his musical roots. His music is not only that of today’s pop styles, but is definitely defined by originality.

Aries Marquis started in a duo group previously known as J2 that was formed in May 2008. The group did live performances in various venues such as showcases at Vincent’s City Club in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as well as a live performance at the Capitol in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. The duo also performed at the Mall at Cortana. This performance was recorded live and can be seen on Youtube.com (type in “Aries Marquis, J2” in the search box).

In March 2010, while on a military rescue mission with the U.S. Army in Port Au Prince, Haiti, Aries Marquis entered a talent showcase among 31 other contestants and won the entire showcase! The footage of the performance can be seen on Youtube.com (type in “Aries Marquis” in the search box).

In May 2010, the group disbanded, and Aries Marquis decided to embark upon his musical path as a solo artist. Currently, he has recorded three singles for his upcoming album, "Guaranteed" and continues his journey to regain exposure with his melodically soulful voice and heartfelt performances.

Many of his musical influences include: Donny Hathaway, Eric Benet, Debarge, Daryl Coley, The Temptations, D'Angelo, Maxwell, Boyz II Men, H-Town, Stevie Wonder, and Michael Jackson.
